This Tamiya Evo 5 was an old kit i had built back in 2001 that I redid. Cleared and buffed body, painted window gaskets, painted wheels gold, added big brake kit, redid ride height and pulled them out to make them sit more "flush" with the body. There were some gluing and painting mistakes I did when i first built it, but since I forgot how I mixed the color I chose not to repaint the whole car. Takin a break from building my new kits and breathing new life into my old ones instead. Enjoy the pics.
Old ride height, notice how sunk in the wheels look:

Looks great. I just wish there was a colour like this available commercially in spray cans.

Honestly, I think it was Testors Burnt Copper sprayed over black...Thats my best guess...
Thanks guys...I really like it too...Much better than how it used to look...Makes me wanna build another one.

Very nice job, the color is fantastic!
potsie: I think you can find similar colors (a wide range of car factory colors) in DupliColor or Motip paints!

you're right, it is a 5...Since the 6 and 5 look almost alike, i tend to mix them up...I see now...the 6 has different tailights..

I've never tried using duplicolor automotive paints....Is it better than using model paint, or more for getting real car colors?
VTEC-DA9:
Man, I'm already thinking of how they are gonna look!

I didn't think automotive paints are better than model paints, some prefer this, some prefer that. I usually use automotive paints to paint the bodyshells - there is a big variety in colors (especially in metallic colors) for a reasonable price at a local paintshop I found, but that's only me!
