Hi all,

I am new to this thread and I am hoping you all can help.

I have a 2000 Town and country and for the last month or so, all of the dash board gauges have just died. Yes hitting the top of the dash does in fact sometimes work, but not often. I have read on this forum, as well as some others, that it could be the BCM. I am going to try and take it all apart tomorrow and see if that could be the simple fix.

The problem I have besides all that is not only is the odometer, rpm gauge, and fuel gauge not working, neither are any of the controls on the center control panel. The blower will kick on, but the AC and heat will not. Neither will the buttons that control the back windshield wiper and its functions. Are all of these controlled by the BCM too? and will fixing it solve all of these things not working?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A very good possibility one of the fixes posted here will help especially post 23 thru 25 but, all could be the one to do it: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=206991&highlight=1996+gauges

One of the fixes talked about in that thread is about the solder joints on the instrument cluster circuit board. This is a slide show that shows you how to get at the cluster and make the reapair: http://photoshow.comcast.net/rlshaull/

Thank you so much for your help! It ended up it was both clusters needed to be fixed. Thank you again, you saved hundreds of dollars.

Is there any chance of someone having a slide show to this problem again? I have a friend with the exact same problem, though he lives a few states away. I was going to send him the link to the slide show from the previous post, but apparently the link is dead.

Many are waiting for that slide show to reappear. It was posted on Photoshow, a photo posting website used by Comcast. Comcast dropped them so now the link is gone. I have PMd 98t&c the author of the slideshow. He is looking for another photo posting site to put it on. Hope it shows up soon.

Based on my memory (oh boy) you have to remove the trim panels to the left and right of the steering column to get at the bolts to gain access to the cluster.

Hi you guys,
I know it's not as fancy but the pics I took of the job are still on my wifes site.
"Ingriddijkers.com", enter the site, click on the "Links" selection, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "Caravan Pics". They show the panels that need to be removed as well as the solder joints.
Good luck,
pentabob

Nice job on the pics. Should help many.

FYI - And this is no biggy. If you type www in front of an address it makes it a hot link meaning it turns red when your cursor hits it and clicking it takes you right to the site. Like this : www.Ingriddijkers.com

not to sound rude or anything, but i could really use that slide show. The pics that pentabob gave do give one an idea of what is going on, but not near what that slide show did. Thank you for the pics though pentabob. Rip, could the guy that posted the slide show use Roxio? I believe it does the same thing that comcast did.

Here is a link to their homepage

man if he could post it again, a bunch of people could really use it.

Thanks again for all the help!
