CV Joint noise?

Good morning

My 2001 Alero (290,000 km) is making a rhythmic "rubbing" noise from the front drivetrain. It does this even if I shut the engine off and coast in neutral. The sound does not seem like a hub, since it is not a constant hum, it is a rhythmic "rub". It seems to be stronger when I have the steering wheel turned all the way to the right and drive in circles. When I drive with the steering wheel locked to the left, the noise seems to be gone. It is always there when I drive in a straight line.

Any suggestions? Does this sound like a CV Joint?

thanks for any suggestions

Do you still have the original hubs? It sure sounds like a hub than inner or outer CV joint.

thanks for the response

i don't think it is the hubs. Bad bearings usually hum at a constant noise, and get louder with increased speed. This sounds like a rub, some kind of friction at every revolution of the wheel. Someone suggested that it could be rust on the rotor rubbing up against something.

thanks again

Peter
