CJ7 Performance

Hi All,
I want to increase the performace out of my '79 CJ 7. The AMC 304 V8 is in good shape, but I was thinking of upgrading the carb. Any thoughts on a street legal carb that gets better performance (I live in CA so there are smog considerations)?

you can get a Holley 390 cfm part number #7008, I believe that they are CA legal. this when combined with an alum manifold will give you better performance. As with anything, you may want to upgrade to a hotter spark plug.

I have used the Holley in the past, while not the greatest on severe inclines it is great for the power.
