Sudden loss of power?

I have a 95 Audi 90 quattro. Recently I've noticed that under slightly heavy acceleration, the engine seems to lose power for a split second. Then it kicks back in. This happens at the same rpm (around 2,700) and I can only feel it in 1st and 2nd gear. Occasionally I can tell in third but not always. I have to accelerate just right. With my inexperience, I can only guess that it might possibly be a cylinder misfiring. If it makes a difference, there is an overall power loss. The car does not accelerate as quickly or with as much force as it used to.
Thanks,
Mike

When is the last time the car had a tune up, including spark plugs, wires, and air and fuel filters? You might also try running a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank, and if it has a MAF sensor, cleaning it. Also check the throttle body and back of the throttle plate for carbon build up and clean as necessary. The throttle position sensor could also have a worn spot causing the stumble. These are easy enough to check typically with a simple multimeter, and there are steps all over the Internet on how to do so.
