Brake pedal going soft

So, I had the GTRA out at the track yesterday, and in my second session ran for about 45 minutes. Towards the end of it, I was noticing that the brake pedal was getting softer, and getting longer, so I pulled in before it let me down in an attention-getting fashion.

I'm running R-compound tires (not slicks), and the track I'm on is not super-heavy on braking (3 or 4 heavy braking zones in 1.8 miles, only one of which scrubs off more than about 40 mph).

So, is that pretty normal in terms of brake fade? I'm new to the car, so I don't know when the brake fluid was last changed. Is that a likely culprit?

Yes if you use cheep fluid bleed them every time out if you used high dollar fluid you can go for several weekend according to Brian.

my pedal is rock hard for a typical 30-45 minute session, never even had a little fade.

a few suggestions
Upgrade your brake fluid, ATE Blue/gold, motul, or even valvoline syntec from Autozone have all worked well for me, never had fade issues with any of them.

Use the brakes less(i know, DUH right?) but brake harder for lesss time and try not to ride them(if you do) I used to do that all the time without even really knowing it.


After each weekend or before the next i usually bleed out just a little fluid from each caliper to get fresh fluid in the them.

I'll look into having the brakes flushed. I keep the car at the track, an hour away from my house, so I'm somewhat reliant on the guys at the track for that sort of maintenance.

I did notice that I'm tending to brake later, and still be on the brakes at turn-in, mostly due to applying brake pressure less aggressively than I think I can. Towards the end of the last session, I started braking harder sooner, and getting back on the throttle (lightly) before turning in. I want to get this right, because once I'm good enough to be close to the limit at turn-in, I don't want the car getting unsettled when I transition from brake to throttle.

Any of you guys left-foot brake with these cars?
