87 2.8 v6 Camero..

i JUST bought this car for 50$ CND it runs and i thought it was worth it..

now the problems i see with it:

- Cracked radiator
- Muffler has a hole in it.. small
- BODY RUST!

now the first 2 i have no problem with..

i just need to know how to fix the body work... i pretty sure i can do most of it with just filler.. except at the bottom of the doors..
they are really rusted away.. should i fill those with putty or weld on some panels.., buy new doors.. or just get side skirts and cover it?

To do it right hope you know how to weld really well! . If you wanna half ass it get metal screening for backing and break out the 50 gallon drum of bondo.

Yeah, if you're a good welder, just make patches for all of the locations that need rust removed. If not, there's the bondo route, but that hardly ever turns out well. The other option would be to shop some yards, and try to find good, cheap body skins to replace them with.

Hellz yea 50 gallons, you can never have enough bondo or duct tape when it comes to Chevys.

LOL, just j/k people. I'm just a sinicle when it comes to Bondo. It never comes out good when everything is said and done. It's a waste of time to bother with it IMO

i got the 88' for my first car. and when i got it my mother told me that all it needed was a wash and a wax job.when i got it i was allmost in tears. it had a lot of stress cracks on the front and rear end,some pretty bad surface rust the passenger door had a rust hole strait through about the size of a tennise ball.and a bad dent onthe top.
but fist thing i did was kill the rust then got the orbital sander out and got to work..if its just suface rust you can sand allmost all of it down then use a thin layer of bondo and then a thin layer of glazing puddy.
i got the dent in the top just about perfect with some bondo.the stress cracks were a lil harder to get out but i still got it.i got pics of all my work on the car ill get some on here if any body wants to see..but if you know how to go abotu it you can work some wonders with bondo i pulled a dent out of my fathers suv that was about a 1 foot in threw some bondo on there and got it painted and you wouldnt ever know there was ever a problem..im not saying that you would want to do that for everything but i dont really know your situation try to get some pics...

oh yea for that rust hole on the passenger door ..forget that man i just went to my granfathers salvage yard and got a new door..

Well bondo is ok... until the whole quarter panel falls off a month after it has been painted.:lol:

bondo can crack and will fall off in a hard accident in cold weather.

well i don thave to worry about it fallin off in an acident in cold weather..we live in louisiana..but yea if your not carefull about gettin the solution rite then you have a bigger chance of having some problems.and if you dont asitone wash the area first then yea..but my dads suv has been done and painted for 8 months..i dont really recomend it for every thing just lil stuff were it would be easier then going out and buying a new fender or qp ect..you know lil stiff...but like im saying i dont really know this guys situation..its just an opinion...
...oh yea i put a 305 in mine cuz i wanted a bigger block..but i hear a lot of people talkin trash about a v6..well growin up workin in my families shop ive seen some pretty nice hoped up v6's if you know what your doing and you got some time and money you can get some reasonble horse power but spendin that much money and time you might as well jsut get a bigger block...

and if you use thin layers and give it time to cure in between layers it will help alot.
