Volvo 940 -vs- Turbo widebody M3

So, I'm minding my own business, cruising down a freeway off ramp toward a yield sign to merge into traffic, and out of the corner of my eye I see a dark carbon fiber hood and the face of a modded BMW M3 come out of nowhere and fill my rear-view mirror just inches off my bumper.
ME: :naughty:
So I check my mirror to merge...there's only a couple cars occupying the far right lane, I signal to go a little wider hoping this guy will follow me. As I'm starting to go across lanes to the left, the jackass swings around me with NO signal and hits the gas...I had to swerve and correct to prevent hitting him. He revs and lets his blow-off valve go off in my ear as he goes around me.
ME: :headshake
THEN, the best part. He gets past me on the outside, so I can see the rest of his car.
ME: :iceslolan:rofl::loser::lol2:

So I'm seriously pissing my pants right about now. We get to a clear spot in traffic, no cars at all. He hits the gas which results in lots of blue oil smoke and the scent of a dying engine, and tries to race me. So I punch it, blow by him, and proceed to take 3 pictures of his car, while punking him the entire time. :evillol:
PS, take special care to spot the driver flipping me the bird in that first picture. Also in the first pic, note the blue cloud of oil smoke engulfing the rear end of his POS. :lol2::lol2::lol2:
It was SUCH an epic win!!!

Funny thing is, it's not even a M3. Hell, it's not even a BMW 318ti hatchback.
It's an early '90s Honda Civic Hatchback with a badly done 3-series front end conversion.
Lamesauce.

Well, I just assumed since you didn't make the point in your post... that you had really thought it was a M3.
I sort of got the idea of the point you were making, but just wasn't 100% sure. Plus... I could resist it.
One of these days we'll have to run one of your Volvos against my Pontiac.

Dude, I just noticed you were in Wrong Beach! I'm in Anaheim Hills now.
Let me know if you wanna hit up Cali Speedway before it gets too hot. Last time I went I had my daily, she's getting tired (202,000 miles and counting...)...netted 14.1 @ 98.7 best out of 3 runs, 2.3 60's...the G8's were running mid-high 13's IIRC.
Maybe April's street legal weekend?

that car might just be the biggest waste of time and money on the planet, lol. What's with the rear mounted roof scoop? must be for the back seat passengers...

I came in here expecting a run with an HPF E46 or turbo'd E36. He got the Hoffmeier kink down pretty well, too bad its horrible rice all the way around. I'd hate to see the front end of the poor E36 he butchered to get that. Good kill otherwise.

Sorry, but I don't mingle with people from Anaslime.
Kidding aside, maybe we'll have to get together sometime soon. I've been thinking about running the G8 at the track. Just been busy.

Woh woah woah...we have rep now? Sweet action...
We put together a meet out here a while back, had a bunch of 3S guys show up. They said their cars were amazing when they would run. I've always felt bad for the 3S and the 300ZX. Never got anywhere near the love for the FD, Skyline, or MkIV Supra.

Well, that is the thing CassiesMan. I think part of it may be that they are not as rare as Supra, FD, and Skyline. One of the reasons I think Supras are so hyped is that they can easily put down outrageous numbers...yet, fairly often they still run poor times for the power they have due to poor power band. As far as reliability goes the Supra also excels in that area. If you have a 2nd gen 3/S and don't beat the living shit out of it they will actually hold up quite well as they have many of the kinks fixed and some stronger parts. They can definately be a PITA to work on at times (which I am soon about to relearn as I replace the sparkplugs for 3 hours+) but at least you don't need to pull the motor to swap turbos like a threehundo ZX. :D However, like any awd car, you do have to take precautions on unleashing a heart-stopping launch a couple times a day. :D Unless your Chris from 3SX who's daily driver is a 10 second 3/S that traps 140+ and has unlimited access to 3/S parts lol.

Not to mention average drivers in an above average car make for slow times. The case of more money to spend than skill to use it.
Which can be said with any car, not just Supra's. How many times have we seen cars with money thrown at them but just can't perform as expected due to the lack luster performance at the controls?

Don't you guys remember the kid from Supraforums back in the day?
Blue TT, license plate was "1K HP". There were videos of him running 14's when the car made 800 WHP on the dyno. :screwy:
Then again, those POS' were dyno queens anyway.

Makes sense. I see a ton of NA 3kGTs all over the place, never ever see any NA Supras. And yeah, you can't really beat an iron block.

Whats the difference between a 800whp Supra and a 1200whp Supra? About three tents of a second in the quarter.
