6 speed transmission

Is it possible to get a 6 speed transmission for a tiny little 1.6 4 cylinder?

It depends on a lot of factors.
What engine is it? Alot of the compact "sporty" FWD cars have 6 speeds these days. RWD cars like the S2000 and miata are available with 6s now I think.
Custom adapters can be made to fit anything to anything. RWD would be simple swapping (comparatively) but a FWD swap might be a real pain unless its the same manufacturer with similarities to the original design.

A 91 corolla. I don't know how much bigger a 6 would be to a 5 but there is some extra room. Its front wheel drive as well.

I highly doubt you'll find anything. FWD cars have the engine, transmission, driveshafts, axle, differential, and suspension all in one package. Everything has to match, and you don't have a frame that you can modify to mount different components.
RWD is easy because everything is separate. Adapting one to the other is as simple as putting something in between them to adapt.
Your only hope is if Toyota made a 6 speed for that body style... which I'm sure they didn't. New Corolla S cars can have a 6 speed optional, but a new corolla is no more like your 91 than a corvette. Totally different critters.

The simple answer is no.
The complex answer is yes, but:
You would need to either swap in an engine and box from a post 2000 Corrola GT, which would require extensive fabrication and customization beyond what you are going to learn from the internet.
Or, buy a very expensive (think 6 figures) sequential race box, which would also require extensive customization and fabrication.

I just thought of a good analogy. FWD unibody cars are like those molded pieces of stryofoam that come on either side of the new stereo you bought. There is a little pocket for the remote and its batteries, and a pocket for the owner's manual, the antenna, the wiring, and even the little feet. Putting a different transmission in a FWD unibody car is like trying to fit a different brand stereo in the box for the new stereo. It doesn't fit, you can't make it fit, and as soon as you modify it you'll just end up making a mess and breaking the styrofoam.
Putting a different transmission in a RWD car is like adding a hot tub to a deck. The foundation is already there, you just have to drill a couple holes for the plumbing.

I like your first analogy, but I think you could apply it to both cases.
The difference being the packaging around the stereo more room to different shaped stereos into. It might not hold them perfectly, but they will fit in the hole with out damaging the packaging, and if you need to you can stuff some paper around the edges.
It just happens that RWD stereo packaging has bigger holes that will hold a wider variety of different stereos, than FWD stereo packaging which will usually only hold the same brand of stereo.
