Hi There! My 1993 MX6 2.5 litre is very difficult to start first thing in the morning, but only when the weather is cold (below 20 degrees or so). I have to crank and crank and when it finally starts a lot of fuel smell is present and lots of blue smoke. When it's warm outside it starts right away, no odor and no smoke. Is there something equivalent to the old automatic choke on a fuel injected engine? Or something else that may cause this?

What kinda spark plugs do you have in there?

I don't recall the specific brand, but they're a brand name and I've checked them for gap and they do emit a god spark

As long as they're not bosch, you should be good. Bosch plugs can cause a LOT of weird problems. I'd check compression and see if that is good. Your car is flooding a bit it sounds like. What kinda gas do you use?

Just 91 or higher octane Shell, Sunoco, whatever is available. It's definitely flooding, but only when it's cold outside. It's been in the 40's the last two days and it starts like it should. That's why I'm curious if it has the equivalent of an auto choke like my 76 ford has. I know it's fuel injection so no choke, but maybe something similar??

There is no choke, it may have a slight bit of enrichment programming when it is cold out but it shouldn't flood the engine. Do you have access to a scantool that can show you engine data? I'd check to make sure the coolant temp sensor/air temp sensor are reading correctly and that none of the sensors read oddly. On every other car i've worked on, the tp sensor usually reads about .5v or 5ish% opening. MAP sensor should read pretty close to atmospheric pressure or either close to 5v or close to 0v. UMM maybe if you could list the values before you start the car, like key on engine off, write em down?

Also, have you cleaned the TB and idle control valve lately? Do you use any type of injector cleaner?
