diagnosis?

1992 eagle talon tsi awd 83,xxx miles
Going to class in the morning, my car ran fine. Later after class (about an hour of time passed) I started my car began to go forward.
My car jumps 2 or 3 times in a stall-like fashion but was running fine, my check engine light comes on and I can hear a clicking noise coming from the center console/radio and the radio is turning off and on sporadically during these jumping actions.
I keep accelerating to 20 mph and the check engine light disappears and my radio comes back on with the same station playing at the same volume.
As i come to a stop and the RPM's begin to drop, the clicking noise resumes and the radio toggles between on and off with the same station.
The pattern of the radio coming on and off and clicking occurs for my entire 10 minute car ride back to my apartment. [car runs smooth except for clicks]
Later I get in my car to go to work and I have no power when I turn my key and I don't hear a clicking noise that would indicate a dead battery.
A very short time later I go back to my car with a friend planning to take a look at it and my car starts up perfectly fine except my CD player ejects the CD inside, loses all presets, the volume setting and is at the beginning of the tuner on a static channel.

Any Ideas? an electrical problem of some sort?
I hope it starts tomorrow so I can drive it to my mechanic.
