1991 XJ 4.0 Laredo
Started her up today and noticed that the MIL had lit up (never has before.) Cycled the key and got a code: "41 An open or shorted condition in the generator field control circuit." I have no idea what that could mean. Could someone help me out? Have a long drive to make on friday and was wondering if this could effect the drive.

Sounds like alternator or voltage regulator circuit.
