Hi to all, new here, and have a ?, imagine that !! lol

I'm replacing the fuel pump assembly on my 97 4 door s10 blazer.

I have read the my guide and searched the forum today before porceeding and i feel relatively prepared.

I know tis topic has prob been posted and reposted,but...
I'd like to ask-

Are ther any tips, hints, words of wisdom for the guy replacing this pump for the first time. I mean I'm sure some of you have done this a quite a bit and I'm wondering if there are any variables that i need to look out for.

Doing this @ night wasn't by choice, just necessity. If there are any things that commonly go wrong basically things of that nature.

I am replacing with a used ac/delco that has 60k on it
I'd come to conclusion thats prob than getting a chaeaper new one would prob not be wise anyway tks for any advice i advanced.

Here you go.
Good luck.

A note;
On the '97, the fuel lines (2) to the pump have squeeze connectors on them, not nuts. It's a 2 fingered squeeze-in-pull out fast connector. One is 3/8"(feed), the other is 5/16" (return). the vent line, 1/4", you just squeeze the round ring and pry it off.
Be very carefull not to drop the tank too far; you'll snap one of these lines if you drop it too much.

Personally, I wouldn't trust a used unit on these, as I've replaced 4 on mine so far, with only 72,000 on the clock. Delphi (the old ACDelco) is the best pump.
Carter and Airmaster are junk.
Not only are they unreliabe(all of the above), the fuel level sender has a tendancy to crap out also.

Yeah bro, i got the old ac delco , got it off by buddy's 97 that he uses for parts. I was thinking of hitting up the dealership and haggle them down to wtvr the competition is selling their pumps for (ie napa, autozone) i bet i can get them down a little. This pump was a whole twenty bucks in seemingly good working over. I am only gona use oem parts.

Ill be replacing it in next few months with brand new one, what do you think is best alternative.

My brother and i been dropping tank @ leisurely pace (beer pace) and flushed the tank and getting ready to put it back up now.

Thanks for the reply and if you can think of any must do's or hints on getting the tank back up and everything attatatched properly bump the thread plz.

Btw: reply and link really did help. But for some reason lots of peep in another forum and @ parts and salvage yards acted like it would take an act of god to get the assembly replaced. So far its been shade tree mechanic stuff.

tks again
