Door lock on 03 Silverado

2003 Silverado LT Z71 43K miles
When I put the truck in park the door locks go to unlock. But the drivers side door doesn't make it to unlock. I have to roll down the window and pull on the outer handle while playing with the manual switch on the inside to get it to open. I want to go inside the door to lubricate all the stuff but not sure how to get in there. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

the door panel is held by a few small screws...after these are removed with the window open lift the inner door panel up..
it is possible the door lock rod is hitting the plastic shield..
