'96 dodge caravan with 3.3 V6. i once again have the infamous wiper gremlins (multi-swipes, stop any where on the windshield). I did once clean the motyor contack area and that worked for a few days, but she is back to the abnormal mode. Any suggestions of what to replace first, multi-function switch or the motor (I did talk to a Chrysler Tech and was told it was a crap shoot as to what to replace on these cars).

I would suggest that you check the 2 relays in the electrical box under the hood. The lid of the box will tell you which relays you need to look at...they are identical so you can switch them and see if that fixes the intermitent wiper problem. I replace my control and put in a junkyard wiper motor and still had the problem...turned out to be the low speed relay.

Thanks, I have filp flopped my relays to no avail so0 i am guessing either a multi- function switch, motor or GOD forbid the BCM.

When my van was under warranty years ago the dealer first changed the MFS then the BCM. It worked for about two years and came back. That was 10+ years ago. At one time I was pulling the wiper fuse during the non rainy season but, no need to now. The ghost wipers are still there but now it only happens at start up and maybe every tenth time I crank it up.
Have to agree with the crap shoot statement. Either can fix it. Let your wallet dictate the first pick.
