I have a 1992 k1500 4x4 w/ a 5 speed(290) tranny. I am having trouble finding one so I was wanting to convert it to an automatic tranny. I was wondering how to do this and how hard will it be? Also what all do I need to do this. Thanks for any help. Just a female playing mechanic!:banghead:

it is easier to go from manual to automatic trans. as far as the shifter for the automatic you can put it in the floor you will have to turn the levers on the trans over.you will have to get a flywheel for an automatic when you get the automatic trans. you might have to change the pcm as most some automatic trans shift electronic but i don't think a '90 model did . some times you also have to change the drive shaft or at least the front yoke. but a junk yard will swap yours for one that will work might have to give a little boot also you might have to rig up a neutral switch with the clutch switch wires so it will crank.i'm sure i left out some other stuff but this is the main stuff when you go from manual to automatic.
