Hello everybody,
I really like the 997. Unfortunately there is no plastic kit in sight. However, Welly makes a very decent die-cast model, which I instantly took apart to paint the interior and to add some seat belts(street version: 3-point)
The original wheels are actually quite nice, but I wanted more substantial rubber. The wheels are 18" BBS with slicks are items from Scale Production (http://www.scaleproduction.de/index.php?cat=c10_Wheels---Tires.html), which I had in the parts box for quite a while. They fit the 997 as if they were made for it. Just painted the spokes gun metal and the screws silver. The Porsche logos on the wheels are from the Hasegawa 944 Turbo, as is the decal on the rear window. Nothing more has been done so far, except for a flat black repaint of the window trim, side skirts and front lip.

Hope you'll enjoy this one, even though it's not plastic...

I am going to add some flocking to the interior and carbon to the wing after returning from the model show in Jabbeke / Belgium in two weeks time.
Thanks for watching!
PS: The tire decals are from the Tamiya CLK DTM.

Looks nice.
I really wish Welly would sell more than their lamest 1/24 models in the US. We get a few scraps, the rest of the world gets a nice variety of models like this that we'll never see in plastic.

Nice job. That Welly is a decent looking diecast!

Hi Seb,
looks nice with these wheels.
Maybe the car sits a little bit too low (contact of body and wheels).
Did you add the brown colour on steering wheel and dash? IMO black or carbon might look better.

Nice conversion. Well done. Only thing than IŽd like to point out is the size of the tires. They might on the front. On the back they seem to be too big. Anyways this one was done nicely and you can be proud of it.

Hi Robert, you're right. They are a tad too large on the rear axle. I tried a set of street tires with the same size front and rear and boy... they looked way too small on the rear axle. That's why I opted for the slicks you see in the pictures.
I even thought about adding some starting numbers to make the slicks more believeable in conjunction with the German license plates as they're not legal for road use.
@Micha: I'll rework the suspension a little, so it sits a little higher.
