2003 Sable - Brake issues, caliber, rotor, backing plate?

Hi guys, forgive me if I post anything in the wrong format or forum. I just bought a salvaged 2003 Mercury Sable and went to get my brakes done and my mechanic ran into a problem. The front left (drivers side) where the car was hit seems to have the parts from either a different car or a different year.
The brake pad fit fine on the front right (passenger side) but were too big for the front left (drivers side). He said he could order and install a new caliber and rotor (those seem to be the problem pieces) but he doesn't know if they will fit on to what they are currently mounted on to. eg, He doesn't know how far back the incorrect parts go back and it may involve a game of "The finger bone's connected to the hand bone."
My only solution seems to be going to the dealer for an inspection and then going back to my mechanic (family mechanic, been going to for years.) So I'm hoping someone here can help and save me a trip to the Mercury dealership.
I took photos (don't know if it's much help) and it seems like the backing plates are the same size which gives me comfort. However the stickers are different colors and have completely different number formats on them which causes me worry.
It's easy to see on the problem side that the rotor is much smaller in comparison to the backing plate when compared to the non-problem side. I'm hoping the problem pieces are just the rotor and caliber and won't require any more involved (or expensive) work besides that.
Any help is kindly welcomed and appreciated!

Oh well thanks anyway... I guess I'll try to take to dealership to get some answers.
