Clearing Flooded Fuel Injection Engine

Contrary to misinformation or misconception GM did program provisions to help clear a flooded engine on all '97-'03 model Buick Regal and other GM cars with the Series II 3800 engine. It is called "Clear Flood Mode". If you suspect the engine to be flooded with gasoline which is possible on a fuel injected engine then perform the following:

1) Make sure battery is fully charged.

2) Push accelerator pedal all the way to the floor (WOT) and hold.

3) Take ignition to START and crank engine.

4) Engine should start.

Note: After engine starts you will have to keep rpms moderately high but well below 4000K rpms until all the gas clears out of the engine. Expect to see a lot of black smoke out the exhaust system.

What the PCM module does is inhibit the fuel injectors as long as throttle position remains above 80% and engine speed is below 600-800 rpm.

Applicable to all '97-'04 Buick Regal LS or GS with Series II 3800 engine VIN "K" and "1" and other late model GM cars with the same engine

Simple way, on any car with electric fuel pump, just simply remove the fuse giving power to your fuel pump, try turning over the engine until it finally acts like it is going to crank, or maybe does and then dies and no longer acts as though it is going to crank. Then reinstall your fuse and crank the vehicle. Hope that helps anyone who can't do it the way mentioned above.
