Greetings, I am greatful for this Forum. Help Please. Straight 6 engine - elec. I used this forum when my dashboard dials were erratic and stopped working, ENGINE light, abs light on. I cleaned battery and had to recharge it. I Was able to take it to the mechanic for Check Engine light. Mechanics stays Code 40, alternator fine, battery fine (because we cleaned and charged it I am assuming). It is identified as having a Computer problem - when you start the car you must press gas within a second or two to react with the alternator the battery doesn't turn off. the dial for battery stays to the left only. Then every thing dims, erratic dial behavor, signal lights do not work and dies. Can I get assistance with this and how can i get the part # to the computer for my Jeep. Also,is this something my husband and I can attempt to replace ourselves?

I can not. However, you may wish to repost this in the Grand Cherokee Forum. This one is for a different model Jeep, the XJ.

No need to start a new thread, I'll move this one over for you.
I had similar problems on another vehicle, and it turned out to the corrosion on the inside of the positive battery cable. If you peel back the insulation you might see a whitish powdery substance. If so, it's an easy repair to do yourself.
