98 sunfire gt 2.4

Ok so my sunfire gt is giving me a dtc code of p303, cylinder 3 misfire, i changed the spark plugs, boots connectors, checked the coil pack and the coil housing and icm and the fuel injectors are all fine. The check engine light comes on for a while then goes off. When i'm driving as long as i don't get on the gas it accelerates have way decent, but the moment i hit the gas hard it spits and spudders but once it reaches like 3200 rpms its fine again and takes off like a bat outta hell. Can anyone please give me a little insight on how to fix this problem :banghead:

check the compression across all the cylinders... with a waste spark system, it's just about got to be specific to cyl 3. If the compression is low on that cyl, higher engine RPM may compensate for a slight leak. If you find it's low, add several drops of engine oil through the spark plug hole and see if it comes up. If it does, the piston rings are leaking, if it doesn't, the valve(s) is/are leaking
