repowering trouble

hi i am tring to repower my 1996 2.5d bounty with a 2000 model 2.5d turbo. I have the motor in changed the pcm add the extra wire it all fire up and runs well on idle but the problem i have is round 1500 revs it starts missing and wont go over 2000 revs its like its not powering the turbo up. not sure where to look anymore. i think some wires must be hooked up wrong because i lost all my dash lights and not sure how to get the back they do come on just before start. any help would be greatful this is the first motor that going 2 beat me thanks
