Need help diagnosising P1457 - EVAP (Canister area)

Hi, this has been an issue since I purchased the car at 120k, i'm around 190k now.
I am fairly mechanicly inclined, but this one is kicking my rear.
As the title states, its p1457, canister area leak of the EVAP system. I have thoroughly inspected the hoses in the engine compartment, but no further. Perhaps I should.
I finally broke down and decided to throw a little money at it (I have very little) and purchased the 2-way valve that sits on top of the canister itself. I had the battery disconnected when installing, so obviously the code was killed. It is not in my head/ a false butt dyno, this thing is a completely different car with the CEL/MIL light off, both in MPG and performance.
The light stays off for 50-100 miles, but returns. The only thread i found on this site was that a individual replaced a 2-way valve and solenoid, (are they 2 seperate things? if so what is the solenoid/where is it/ how much please?) and they ended up having to replace the ECU.
I am fine with doing both, but i would really rather diagnosis this issue properly, and replace what has failed. Otherwise this car has been incredibly reliable, and easy to work on when needed (ball joints/ timing belt/ all that good stuff).
If anyone can give me some insight on eliminating some things, or testing procedures on related components, that would be greatly appreciated.
** one last thing, that may or may not be useful. I have checked the code with 2 different obd2 readers, and one throws the p1457 code twice, seemed odd to me. The other throws p1457, and p1457b. I dont know if this jumps out to perhaps a tech, but it didnt directly mean anything to me.
Thanks in advance for responses.
