My dad and I were talking over some beers... Is this possible? I was telling him that Rodeos use a GM transmission (2001 anyway). Not that we would be capable really of converting this but just wondering. We both have had the 4.3 and loved it.
Thanks

Anything is possible, but I don't think the 4.3 GM will bolt up to the trans.
You would need, new motor mounts, new wireharness, new ECU, new transmission....

If it's been done, the information is out there somewhere. The 4.3L is basically a small block V-8 minus two cylinders. The early Rodeo's used 3.1L V-6 GM engines. Basically the same GM v-6 that is still in use in new GM cars. As far as I know, the 4.3L and the 3.1L do not share the same bellhousing bolt pattern and I don't know if the Isuzu 3.2L kept the bolt pattern from the GM v-6 or not.
I think a more interesting match-up would be a 3.8L supercharged V-6 out of a Pontiac Grand Prix or similar vehicle.
