I have a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with 173k. When I go to put the car in gear R,D,1,2, ect. It seem like it is in Neutral (N) . What can I do ? Or is the Transmission Shoot......

Th first thing to do is check the shift cable linkage. It runs from the shifter assembly to the transmission range switch. When you move the shifter what does the PRND321 indicator at the IP Cluster (instrument panel) do? The same linkage is used. If that is good then you have an internal transaxle issue. A pan drop may reveal something.

Exact same thing just happened to me also. Too damn cold here to be under a vehicle. If you figure out anything be sure and post it please.
Thanks

I successfully flushed the transmission. New filter, gasket, and fluid. So far so good. Average cost was $50. Dollars.
