Sounds like a great vehicle.
Just a few questions
1. how long can you keep the battery before you need to replace it?
2. When you do replace the battery, how much does it cost?
3. At $100,00, you don't recoup the cost of gas until you would want or need to buy a new vehicle, is the price going to come down to a resonable level any time soon?

Thats some interesting info on the Tesla batman281, however I read through the link and can't find the answers to my questions, infact it raised two more questions:

1. Say I want to take a 300 mile road trip with the Tesla. The battery will go only 220 miles on a full charge,
a. where will I get it charged? and b.How long will it take to charge ( will I have to sit around a couple of hours until the battery is recharged?
If so, the time it would take wouldn't be worth the trip.

2. The battery is a lithium battery. Although they claim it is very safe, I heard of some lithium batteries recently being recalled because they get too hot and catch on fire.
So, just how safe are the batteries?

if it only goes 220 miles, and you want to go 300, plan on walking that extra 80...

Fair enough, and by the way, I'm a female "dude"!:)

I learned today from my driving student that Tesla is the name of a Russian scientist who worked with AC/DC theories, whom the car is named after.

I may do research myself on the tesla to find the answers to those questions.

I searched the net a bit and found this info about the Tesla Battery:

Tesla remains the only production automaker with a highway-capable EV for sale in the United States and Europe. Tesla has delivered more than 150 all electric, zero-emission Roadsters, and there are more than 1,000 people on the waiting list. The Roadster, which gets an EPA estimated 244 miles per charge and charges fully in as little as 3.5 hours, is sold out through November 2009.

So it gets a little more than 220 miles per charge, according to this article.
Yet it would take 3.5 hrs to recharge, They say in "as little"
as 3.5 hrs!
well a 300 mile road trip, driving near 60 mph will already take about 5 hrs WITHOUT a "recharge stop".
This is where it seems to me me the hybrid, using some gas and electricity is superior technology, at least for now, you have a way to keep your battery charged with no 3.5 hr "layover" :lol2:

Correction; according to wikipedia he was Croation/Serbian, not Russian, which makes him even more interesting to me because I have croation/Yugoslav in me from my moms side.
