Actually its a good combination of 2. I would go for both but you would see bigger increase with y-pipe than CAI. Its up to you. Get budget y-pipe its around 170 US dollars shipped from Canada. The reason I said US dollars because in Canadian dollars the budget ypipe is around 270 but if you do the math and money exchange in US it comes out around 170 bucks. Its the best discount ever comparing to stillen and cattman. Stillen is just over priced. Cattman is really good but its too expensive. As far as CAI, best one is Place Racing CAI, but for most of the CAI's like place racing CAI you have to cut a hole in your fender wall. I saved myself from cutting anything and just bought an Injen Racing division CAI. I Like it alot but Im sure I would of gotten more hp increase with Place Racing CAI. Hope this helps.

the y pipe will give u the most HP for a single mod, but dis is right, the 2 will work better and maybe opening the rest of ur exhaust up.

Definitely go with the Y pipe it adds anywhere from 18+HP and I'd personally go with the WAI it has been proven to add more HP and gains over the CAI.

dis said it all , ihave place racing and i love that thing u can surely feel the power around 25oo - 3000 rpm till about 5500, i would go for the y pipe first and here s why; our engine has more potential power in it but the engineers restricted it to make it quieter so go ahead and release that power first with the y pipe then add more power to it with the intake i hope that helps:D

bk2kmax I used to have WAI from frankencar, and I really feel more power with CAI than WAI. I guess it deppends on the person and cars set up.

Y-pipe gives you more power. If you want sound, get an intake. My personal favorites are Budget y-pipe and Frankenkar intake.

My friend from maxima.org has budget y-pipe and Injen CAI. He tries to keep it as quiet as possible but when you are at 4000 rpm you can hear everything. hehe

MEVI's aren't for beginning modders. They are scary pieces of shit.
50 horses at about 6800 RPMS=nuts(that's with a JWT ECU)

No disrespect intended when I say that must be your Butt dyno, I'm talking real numbers and hard facts on the WAI, not our Buttdyno. Maybe it does feel like more power than your WAI but that's just a feeling, numbers don't lie. Go look back a couple of pages and see the thread I put up on the comparison of the intakes and let that be your judge unless you or someone else come up with something to counter it, it will stand as the first Official results that is accepted by all the members of Maxima.org and me.

yea man. I saw that thread and yes my buttdyno(feeling) may be wrong. hehe. Its upto a person what he/she wants to get. Yea I admit I see bigger effects at low-end tourqe with WAI but at high end I like CAI better. NO DISSRESPECT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. JUST my opinion. :D

how does this mevi work? Any research sites on it? I'm not looking for a price page, but somewhere that says what it does.

Go to http://www.cyberhub.net/manifold/
It gives instructions on install and may give some info on what it does. Basically it gives you an @$$load of high end horse-power(about 6800 rpm's with JWT ECU). It is best when coupled with the JWT ECU. Go to www.Maxima.org adn look in the forums for the FAQ's. IT tells what a MEVI is. With a MEVI, you can push the "low torque" of a VQ up to redline.

it's a variable manifold. it has flaps that adjust to allow optimal amounts of air in when necessary, instead of trying to pull as much air as possible at all times. the 5th gen max's have them stock along with the variable exhaust. that's pretty much where they get the 222 hp

how much they cost? if its high, you think gutting a 5th gen at a junkyard would be a good idea?
