4th gen motors are intended to removed from underneath by dismounting the crossmember. You have to get the front up pretty good to do it on the ground.
It also has been done the 'conventional' way out the top but obviously a bit more precarious since 1/2 the motor is under the dash.
Try and search the forums, I know there's a few step by steps for both ways.

Thank you, i do have access to a lift. My dad runs a tire shop and has a few. There threads just keep going back and fourth. Some say that the bottom is the easiest, and some say the top is the easiest. Like you said, the traditional way is through the top. Thats what my dad has pretty much done all his life. "oldschool pops" I just wana know which really is the easiest. If it is the top where can i get that happy hooker or whatever its called?
Thank you -Jim-

I've never personally done a 4th gen motor removal, there's a few foils here that have. But all in all, I would think dropping from the bottom would be the way to go. :2cents:

Go out the bottom. Its easier all the way around, especially if you plan on taking it out with the tranny intact.
