Nissan GT-R

On a Duth modelling forum, we have a Nissan Groupbuild.

My entry is the Nissan GT-R from Fujimi. Everybody build the Tamiya GT-R but I think the Fujimi kit is much nicer. This car hasn't got an engine but the engine from Tamiya also sucks :D

Let's take a look inside the kit:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_001_%28Medium%29~5.jpg

Look at the brake discs and calipers:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_002_%28Medium%29~5.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_003_%28Medium%29~5.jpg

Very nice interiorparts:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_005_%28Medium%29~4.jpg

The nice clearparts:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_006_%28Medium%29~4.jpg

the chrome parts:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_007_%28Medium%29~3.jpg

And the body. There is an engineroom but no engine :useless:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_009_%28Medium%29~1.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_010_%28Medium%29~1.jpg

The original wheels are bigger than aftermarket 20'' wheels:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_011_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

Started dryfitting the body parts:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_012_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

The rearbumper need some work to fix.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_013_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_014_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_015_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_016_%28Medium%29.jpg

Maybe I go for some 20'' VIP wheels on this car. Don't know yet.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_017_%28Medium%29.jpg

I also have a PE Full Detail set from Hobby Design. It's made for the Tamiya kit, but the most parst would be usefull on the Fujimi kit I think :)

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_019_%28Medium%29.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_021_%28Medium%29.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_022_%28Medium%29.jpg

The color will be Pearl Blue. It's a special made color from Tamiya:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_023_%28Medium%29.jpg

After scribing the panellines, I filled the faults with some putty. After sanding it and removing the moldlines I painted it with primer:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleur_004_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

Today I painted the body with that great color Pearl Blue!
4 layers where enough:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleur_009_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

The diffusor, frontlip and sideskirts are painted with Tamiya Ligth Gun Metal:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleur_010_%28Medium%29.jpg

The paint on the diffusor was a little bit to thick, so it got some bubbles. This will be repainted when the paint is dry enough to sand it.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleur_012_%28Medium%29.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/kleur_015_%28Medium%29.jpg

Now I add some decals on it, and clearcoat it.

Kris.

Looks good! Was planning on doing mine in Mica Blue to be different, but you've beat me to the blue end of the spectrum :nono:

Will be watching with interest (though mine is the Tamiya version).

Hey it looks good! I also think the Aoshima kit is pretty good too, little or no fitment issues at all so far for me. That color is nice, I think I'll do another GT-R in the future in that color since I'm doing mine in Gold.

Nice job on this, and good idea of painting it 'different' (tired of those silver ones...). I like the color although it seems a little bit darker on the body comparing to the can to me...
By the way, Fujimi is to release a version with engine, so I guess that's why it has room to fit in the curbside kit also. Here is the kit with engine:

You could try ordering the engine sprue(s) as a spare part. Probably run you b/w 5 and 10 $.

I do not want to hijack the thread, but how about an orange one?

this one is also from Fujimi...

Thanks for all the off-topic replies :S

I think I'll use the stock wheels. Maybe paint them in the same Light Gun Metal color like the skirts etc.

I also clearcaoted the body with 4 layers of TS-13.

I think the one you want is here (https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10084193). This site (1999) usually shows the instructions online, so you can get the precise part info there hopefully (once it's available).

Then you can email [email protected] with a spare part request.
Just tell them the kit make, name, number, etc, anything to accurately identify it. And the part you want, eg, sprue F or whatever it is.

I think people here are doing this all the time. Just send them an email and ask them how to go about it.

It's a bit late isn't it, for your car? It might require some hacking. Anyway, good luck! Hope that helps.

Thanks! I'll try that. No it's not to late as I need the engine to try to get it into a Silvia or 350z kit.:iceslolan Although I really need to order a new body.

Thanks again. I'll try not to hijack or post offtopic messages in this thread.

After a long time not going further with this car, I thought it must be finished before july.

So I first made the discbrakes from the HobbyDesign PE set. It was not difficult but it cost me a lot of time.

After that I sprayed a layer of smoke on them for some more realistic dept, and look.

I thought it would be a hell of a job to fit these brakes on the Fujimi brake caliper system, but lucky is I'am this looks liked it was made for it :) No modifications at all. They just fit like they should be :D

So I painted the very nice calipers in bronze, and added the Brembo decals on it.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/remmen_004_%28Medium%29.jpg

I also started with the chassis. All parts are painted yet, and I have to do some detail painting on them and glue it together. After that I'll give it a light wheatering.

The interior is also started. I painted everything Semi Gloss Black, and now I'll paint some aluminium and flat blue on it. The interiorcarpet will also be blue.

I just finished making the Fujimi GTR in red.

One thing I did find VERY annoying is that they didn't seperate the front grill from the bumper like the Aoshima kit. So painting the grill seperately is VERY time consuming and rather hard to do right. They should've taken the extra bit of time and made seperate molds for it.

Also the rear bumper is a constant annoyance, and I don't really know how to fix it....so I had to use some clear tape to stick it in place.

For some reason the front headlights didn't seem to fit too well, but that could just be my mistake.

apart from that, everything else was great, especially the color and size of the wheels.

The problem with this kit is that Fujimi have the biggest wheels of all kits. So the 20'' inch wheels looks to small on it. On a Aoshima or Tamiya kit they will fitt nicer I think.

I think I'll just use the original wheels but I'm still considering to paint them in an other color....

The last days, I worked a lot on this model.

First I already painted all chassisparts. So it was easy to assemble, and wheater it after it was dry.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/100_2757_%5B800x600%5D.JPG

I also started on the windowtrims. The maskingtemplates in the kit are very nice and thin, so it was easy to work with. The result is spot on, but unfortunatly the window broke after I cutted it from the clearparttree. I hope it will be a bit covered by the wipers.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/100_2760_%5B800x600%5D.JPG

I also started with the interior. Everything was already painted with semigloss black.
First I modified the dashboard. I removed the airfunnels (is that the correct word???)

And here is the completed dashboard with the iPod and the radiofront.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/100_2767_%5B800x600%5D.JPG

The doorpanels are painted blue, and I painted the doorlights. I also added the BOSE PE speakergrills.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/100_2771_%5B800x600%5D.JPG

The very nice frontseats are assembled and the middle was painted blue. The triangles in the headrests are also PE.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/100_2774_%5B800x600%5D.JPG

The rearseats also got some blue paint, I added some blue interiorflocking and the midconsole was painted aluminium. The speakergrills in the back are also PE.

It's a shame your weathering skills are going to be covered by those chassis plates. I can't help but think the brakes have a rusty look to them but then I guess that matches the amount of weathering you've done. Lovely interior. Personally though I don't like the look of those rear PE speakers...just seems like you've put the PE right over the flocking, rather than the speakers being something solid. iPod is a nice touch.

First I added the most left over bodyparts on it, and also added the lights and windows.

I also added a lot of PE on the body. The numberplates, and all badges are from the PE set.

After this was dry, I waxed the body again because meanwhile it was full with fingerprints :D
