08 Fuel Issue

Wife has an 08 Elantra with 4600 miles on it. Had a recall from the dealer in regards to the fuel filter. Took it in and replaced as no charge; seemed to help with fuel consumption. Now the car seems to EAT gas at an alarming rate, no puddles under the car or in the garage.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Get a better idea of your MPG first so you have some hard date to go back to the dealer with. Fill up the tank, and calculate MPG. Take it back to the dealer if the MPG is clearly bad.

Here is the recall, it was supposed to IMPROVE performance, not retard it:

Recall ID # 08V429000 - FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

We will get a baseline MPG this coming week.

And yes, we did get the recall fixed just after we purchased it and it helped for a short time.

I'll let you know what we find next week after running back and forth.
