hey everyone, i have a 97 gmc sonoma 4.3 vortec, and 90 percent of the time the truck idles at 1800 rpms untill i come to a complete stop, ill sit for 15 sec and then it will idle, this is manual shift by the way. it will run good, takes right off, also if i hold it at one speed it will skip (sputter) usally at low rpms, i was thinking mabe it was the Idle Air Control, but i wanna get opions before i go spending a shit load of money since stuff for this truck isnt cheap, thanks keith

Tampering with the emission control system is against the law, even if it's your own vehicle! It carries a fine of $3500 by the US EPA, and possible jail time also, no questions asked! It's probably not a good idea to call attention to the fact that YOU did it! Please don't offer illegal advice to other members on the forum.

check your egr .take it off and clean it real good. clean the carbon out of the motor holes to .start the truck with the egr off to blow out any loose carbon.
