I have a 96 Explorer. The great thing about this SUV is that when you push the brake pedal, the R.P.M.s go up to around 2,000 - 2,500 R.P.M.s. Any idea of how to fix this or put me in the ball park of what may be wrong......Mike in Ocala Florida

Welcome to the forum!
When the RPMs increase while stepping on the brake, does the engine begin to idle roughly or is is smooth? It sounds like you either have a vacuum leak or an Idle Air Control (IAC) servo that is malfunctioning.

Does it do it if you use either foot on the brake? I have a F150 that if I use the right foot, my big ole foot also presses on the accelerator. Just wondering.
