Anyone flush a tranny b4?

Like I said in my other post my tranny is shifting a little hard into 2nd gear so I was thinking about trying to flush it.. I called around and the avg. price seems to be like 120 or more! How hard could it really be? How many screens will I need to get? Is there a drain plug like oil or what? Any help would be great! Thanks

You might have gotten lucky, If I'm right, if you change your fluid yourself, you can get rid of most of the old fluid. There is a drain plg in your torque convertor. Unbolt the tranny pan and drain the fluid, ( unbolt all but the 4 corner bolts, then remove 2 on the same side, then begin to loosen the other two and you should start to see the fluid come draining from the other end. PAtience, and you won't take a bath!!) drop the pan and remove the filter, install a new one and also recommend before you reinstall teh pan, pour some Lucas tranny treatment in the pan then bolt it up using a new gasket, it the other is not reusable. ( use a rubber gasket, cork breaks and leaks).
Then remove the rubber circle from teh bell housing, using a screwdriver, carefully wedge it to turn the convertor till you see the plug. remove and drain. Do it this way will require about a case of fluid. good luck.

I wouldn't recommend removing all but two of the pan bolts. The weight of the fluid in the pan may cause the pan flange to bend, making it difficult to get the gasket to seal and not leak.

Sounds like alot of work lol.. Ive heard great things about that lucas tranny stuff.. Maybe when it warms up ill give it a shot.. I only drive it 9miles each way to and from work a day..

If you "flush" your tranny you are asking for problems. Just get the old Fluid out and the new fluid in. Check for metalic peices larger than a pencil point, some shavings is normal but chunks is not.
