I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 4x4 with 135000 miles on it. A couple of days ago while coming home on a dry day, the dash and tail/running lights blew a fuse. It will blow at crazy intervals. Some times it will last 20 minutes, and other times it will last 3 minutes. I have not done anything to it other than add a trailer plug in to the factory wire harness in the back. That was 5 months ago. Like I said all of a sudden it started doing it. Is there a wire that I should check in the wire harness to see if it is exposed or wore through. Would it be the headlight switch??? Looking for help in which way to start.:loser:

First thing to check is the plug that you added for the trailer for a short since this has started since the installation. Once you know that is not the culpert start disconnecting tail lights and such until the fuse doesnt blow.

Remove the T-harness and see what happens. Those things seem to always be causing me problems, blown fuses, signal light problems....

I checked the wiring plug in on the back and found the white wire had worn through some how. I pulled the wiring harness back through where it rubs on the frame rail and spliced and taped it. I have runt it all day today with lights on and have not had a problem.:licka:
