Ok...I seriously would like to compare these two..now they are both 4 seater sports cars...one more luxurious than the other...but these 2 were compared in C/D w/another car (Cobra) but I think it doesnt belong
So what's it going to be...
3.5 Liter V6 280HP
G35 Coupe
or
Rotary 250HP
RX8
So what's it going to be...

i want torque ill take they g35 (skyline for those who dont know even though im not a big skyline guy)
rx8 looks great but only around 140 lb/ft of torque thats not kool.
g35 is so pretty. but the better comparo would be 350z and the rx8

just to clean up what you said, and we don't get a skyline war started...
the g35 is indeed the new skyline, albeit not the gt-r that everyone in the US is familiar with.
for background, keep in mind that the gt-r is only the top of the line, while there is a whole family under it, not unlike the different number of golfs available, from TDi to GTi.
clear.
i'll take the g35, i like the way it looks a lot more

Amen to what flylwsi said about starting a skyline war.
I personally find the G35 to be a better looking car.
I like the fact that the G35 comes with a 6-speed Getrag(a very awesome tranny)
I like the power/torque that the G35 puts out and the fact that aftermarket companies(i.e. Greddy) are beginning to have a bit of aftermarket support for it.
I would go for the G35 anyday.

eh, after owning a black car before, i'll never own one again. black cars look sweet, but only after a nice wash with a couple coats of polish and wax. those swirl marks become too evident on black cars. same thing with water spots. i haven't got the time to wash/polish/wax my car all the time. once a month is almost too much for my schedule. silver ones look pretty good to me. :smoker2:

Based on looks alone, I'd definitely go with the G35. The RX-8 has a few lines that just don't match up for me, and the door handles don't match the car and seem to be mounted about 3" too low down the side. I have a lot of small complaints but overall the look is just "off", like they didn't finish fine-tuning the concept. The car looks kind of plasticy on the front spoiler, also. (Yes, I know it IS plastic, but it doesn't have to look it.)
Beyond that, I don't know much about the RX-8's comfort/convenience features, but I do know about the G35's..
Actually, personally I'd go G35 sedan, just because a coupe doesn't suit my needs. However I do think the G35 coupe is infinitely more attractive than the sedan, and that's saying a lot as the sedan is damn sexy.

The RX8 is down on power- but judging by previous RX cars it'd be lighter as well. The G35 looks bolder- but the RX8 looks sharper.
I haven't driven either so I'm not commenting on handling.
It's early stages- but I am going for the RX8 at the moment.

Easy one for me, G35 Coupe. But I do like the projected price of the RX8. I just don't think that the rear seats are all that important in a coupe. Give me the better lines. I think the RX8 looks a little to bubbly. I am just glad to finally see some nice coupes out there. It seemed like the late 90's were the worst years in autodome.

Car and Driver did the comparison of G35 vs. RX8 vs. some Mustang model. RX8 got rated barely better than the G35. Pretty much the whole reason for the RX8 winning that comparison was it as a more roomy back seat... IMO, the G35 looks much better than the RX8. Don't get me wrong, the RX8 is a very nice car, but the G35 is just more sleek and sporty, and I love the verticle headlights. The only thing I don't like is that the G35 is a knock-off Skyline, and I just hate cars that look and perform almost exactly alike with different manufacturer tags on them.
My 2 cents.

I never thought it was that hard to understand..
JDM Nissan Cefiro = US Infiniti I30, I35
JDM Nissan Cima = US Infiniti Q45
JDM Nissan Primera = US Infiniti G20
JDM Nissan Skyline (2003+) = US Infiniti G35
In each case the US gets the highest trim-line of the JDM product, with a few cosmetic changes. Same cars underneath the bonnet, though.

you know i never though it was that hard either but i have explained it too many people on this forum and in real life. people have this problem in thinking that every skyline is a 2 door gt-r and when they see a non gt-r or even worse a 4 door they dont know what the fuck is going on...

Ugh..and if you only knew how many times I've had to explain that the Sentra is not the same as the G20..(different suspension, platform, engine, everything else, but they still think they're the "same car", go figure!) and I've even had to explain that the 1993-1997 Altima was NOT the same car as the J30...seeing as the J is about 2 feet longer, you'd think this is obvious, but I guess not.
But back on topic..while overall the RX-8's looks just don't agree with me, I do like the idea of the 2+2 coupe. I owned a coupe previously and it was darned near impossible to put anything (let alone people) in the back seat. I'll pass more judgement when I see one in person.

To the best of my knowledge, there is a 3.5l Cefiro, offered 2001-2003, but the 2004 Maxima is sold overseas as the Teana. It wouldn't have made sense to sell the 3.5l VQ in the I35s here, but leave the old 3.0 in the Cefiro. However the current Maxima is on an entirely new platform, probably why they decided to give it a new name in Asia and Europe.

the 5th gen maxima is the same as a jdm cefiro. the new 6th gen maxima is that is coming out is related to the jdm teana are related, only that is the maxima is more bigger and has a more powerful engine. and i would understand how the people would think that a j30 would be the same as a atlima. they got that same ugly trunk overall the same profile. of course as soon as you say that a j30 is a rear wheel drive with a n/a Z32 v6 in it then they will go "ooohhhh"
edit:
and don't forget that the gloria or credic is here in the united states under the infiniti M45 badge. and as we all know, most of the infinitis here have more power then the jdm counter parts.

The Primera, for example. In EU and JP, the Primera 1991-2002 was available with a 1.6, 1.8, or 2.0 engine (and diesel options too). However here in the states the G20 is ONLY available with the 2.0, and 4 wheel disc ABS, dual airbags (post 1993.5), seatbelt pretensioners, and 6-active-speaker sound are all standard. The stock Primera does not have all these options standard. The Primera overseas is as common as the Civic, here, but we only got the high-end version and for some reason it didn't sell terribly well. Marketing, I think.

well i would expect a G20 to be more luxurious then a primera. considering that a primera looks quiet ugly and cheap compared to the infiniti version. and since its a infiniti, it being avaliable with more options is just a given. how much power does a G20 make stock though? still the same as a 200sx se-r? around 140ish?

140-ish, and 3000+ lbs, so the "lux" is in the features more than the "go". However it's still possible to swap in an imported turbo, which some people have done. It's funny that you think the Primera is ugly and cheap..all the G20 owners want to convert their cars to JDM..and I know of a few Primera owners trying to convert their cars into the G20.

The Primera I know of is identical to the G20- exceot a different front frille and no plastic piece above the tail-lights (in the P11 model)- the facelift P11 looks FAR beter than the USM G20- What ever way you looks at it the Primera/G20 is well equipped- The Primera doesn't sell very well in Europe though............
