Hello,
My car is a 2000 Blazer LT. 99k miles.
Turned the car over last evening and smelled a burning smell inside the truck. The "SErvice 4wd" light lit up on the dashboard. All 4 lights in my "driving cluster" of lights on my dash are now dark. Nothing is lit up now. Normally "2 hi" is lit up when I'm not in 4wd.
I'm guessing this could be a switch? Is it easy to replace and how much would you estimate it's cost at if I do it myself?
Thanks,
Lori

4W not working?
Check 4 W drive fuses first thing.
If not fuse.
It needs to be checked for codes to see why light is on.
OBD!! scanner will not get codes.
You will need a transfer case capable scanner to get codes.
Post back any codes?
Does the shift buttons have a auto 4W button or just 4W and 2W?
If auto 4W it needs serviced with special GM blue transfer case fluid.
Ever been serviced?

4wd is not functioning. I did the 4wd service 2 years ago. Fuses are fine. It does have the "auto 4wd" button.
Since I smelled the burning smell in the cab when the "service 4wd" light first lit up- would that give you any indicataion of which switch would have burnt out? Do I have 2 switches- one in the dashboard and 1 on the transfer case in this model? Would I have smelled the switch burning out if it was the one on the transfer case- if I do have that one?
Thanks,
Lori

Burning smell inside points to burnt or shorted wiring or wiring plug in or even a fried transfer case computer.
Check all wiring and plug in and transfer case computer and dash switch.
If service 4W light is in you will have a code.
A transfer case scanner will show where the problem is and have codes.
Check for codes with a transfer case capable scanner and post back code no.
