Hi Guys,
Ok, so I was lucky enough to get a great deal on a 1986 Town Car about 2 years ago. Car is in decent condition, lots of documentation from the original owner (oil changes, other work....about 3 inches thick!), and it has been pretty reliable. In fact, my 2 oldest boys have learned to drive in this car, and it kinda got them interested in cars a bit...overall pretty cool.
SO here is the thing. I need to start getting a few parts to freshen her up/keep things as nice as possible. The biggest thing I am running into now is that the glass portions of both left and right mirrors have "popped" out, with the plastic backing cracked. Think of it as looking at a mirror hanging by the wiring (from the heated mirrors) and where it used to be is a phillips head screw with a bit of jagged plastic surrounding it. I got a full mirror for the right side from, (what I think was) , a 1987 or so TC. Everything looked the same, until I realized it has different plugs on them. Also, the mounting points on the rear was different, etc....I have been checking ebay and craigs list to no real avail.
There are a few other items I need also...an inside door pull handle (blue preferred, although I am watching a brown one on ebay right now), the typical cracked arm rests on both front doors and dashboard, a rear window motor. I think I may be needing a gas tank soon...mechanic thinks I may have a slight leak starting on the top side...won't know till I drop the tank.
Can anyone point me towards good sights that I should check out (besides here, of course)....I still hit up the junk yards around here often, but they seem to have dryed up long ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2 more years, and antique plates, and the state of NJ can stop bustin stones on "less than perfect" land yachts! I would also like to hang onto it and fix it up a bit more so I can save it to give back to my oldest son one day. After all, which of us wouldn't like to still have thier first car?
Thanks for your time guys...
Marc

Hi Marc
Definitely keep one of those oldies alive. I don't have any Lincolns that old, in case some one recommends me. I'll keep my eye open, if I run across any I let you know. The problem now days is that everyone thinks a junk car is worth 6 or 7 hundred in scrap, which is so not the case. It's hard to get them for cheap. That really hurts.

Good day to all,
I am a new member and also an owner of a 97 TC and a 96 Continental and a 93 GMC custom van.
The TC is far superior to the Conti, they can both be real headaches if you don't have some knowledge about them.
I also belong to lincolnsonline.com, they have a storehouse of information with a tech section that covers most anything a do-it yourselfer will encounter. Give them a try, I'm sure you will be pleased.
They are my source for any questions that I may have.
