Check gas cap

The wife emailed me that the "Check gas cap" light came on her '06 Tribute.
She had just put gas in and the light came on. When she got to work, she checked the cap and it was on correctly and fully. She cranked up again and the check gas cap light stayed on. The light initially came on after she had just put gas in. I'm thinking maybe the gas cap gasket has a leak?
Anyone have this happen?

Forgot to update in a timely manner.
After driving for 30 miles or so, the "Check gas cap" light went out on it's own.
