The V8 StockCar Road Racing Series will kick off the 2009 season at the all new Palm Beach International Raceway February 14 & 15 racing with the PBOC Club. Two thirty minute sprint races are scheduled, one each on Saturday and Sunday. On hand to begin his defense of his V8 GT-1 championship from 2008 will be Dave Machavern. Machavern, the former Grand Am Series GTS champion, will bring out his electric blue Heritage Motorsports Corvette that took nine race wins in 2008 and set two new track records. The car will again be prepped and crewed by the capable group at Tommy Riggins Competition. Former Trans Am and Grand Am privateer Jon "Chevy" Leavy and Daytona's Ray Webb are looking to end Machavern's dominance. Another racer returning with professional championships on his resume is 3 time NASCAR DASH Series champ Larry Hoopaugh in an ex ARCA car built by ARCA star Bob Schacht for the V8 SPO class. Paul Breehne Jr will give the Ford faithful one to root for wheeling his quick Progressive Racing Engines V8 SPO Ford Fusion in his usual on the edge style. 2008 V8 GTA champ Tony Amico will bring out his fast #77 Monte Carlo to do battle with class runner up Tom Graham, 2007 champ Jay Marshall, the Keith Brothers, Tom Boldry, father and son racer's Randy and Greg Walker and a host of others. Racers from Vermont, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and North Carolina have made the trek to do battle with the Florida contingent. The V8 StockCar group will really get to air it out on the one half mile long back straightway with the fastest cars approaching 180 mile per hour.

Come "feel the noise" with V8 StockCar 2009.

The V8 Series moves to Sebring International this weekend, and we should have thirty plus cars in the stock car and GT classes.

The "bad" GT-1 Corvette of Dave Machavern will be there, fresh from a double win at PBIR (some of you saw Dave's impressive performance at Daytona last August). Keeping Dave honest will be Charles Wicht, in the #92
ex Kevin Harvick South West tour Monte Carlo. Charles' ride now has the
GT-1 wing and 14 inch wide rubber and a 700 plus hp SBC. He will give Machavern a test. Also in the V8 GT-1 class will be Babe Branscombe in one of the old Spirit of Daytona race winning Corvette's, Rob McElheny in an SB2 powered Camaro, Ray Webb in an ex IMSA winning Olds Cutlass built by Tommy Riggins and powered by a Byron Koury motor.

In our V8 SPO class (our super late models) look for Lee Arnold in his ex Boris Said SWT car, Paul Breehne in his super with it's powerful Progressive Racing Engines Ford, Jerry Douglas in his Monte Carlo, Graham Doldert in one of the ex Waste Management Nationwide series cars, Bill Minnear, Danny Foster in his ex Ganassi cup car and more.

The popular V8 GTA class (our limited late models) will feature Jay Marshall, Tom Graham and possibly Gary Grubbs out of the Mike Cope Racing stable, plus 2008 class champ Tony Amico, George Lutich, Sherri Lutich, Phil Tapia, Kansas Tornadoes Ron and Randy Keith & Tom Boldry, Kentuckians, Randy and Greg Walker.

We will be running with the Central Florida Region SCCA and there will more than 320 race cars in all the groups.

Those wanting to check out the action can do so by presenting themselves at the SCCA registration building just outside the track on Saturday or Sunday morning before 11:00 am. Ask to be a guest of the region. They may charge 5 bucks for entry.
