Hi Mike, welcome to this forum and to the collision industry. As far as advise...I just recommend that you find something that you like doing and do it. If you're going to spend the rest of you life doing something, you might as well do something you enjoy. If you have any questions feel free to ask us anytime. Where are you going to go to school at?

Thanks for the welcome. I am going to the local Tech school near me. How has the economy affecting the collision industry? I have heard that is has not hurt it much.

Well, I think everyone and every business is going to feel this one. However, people are still going to drive and have accidents. Some of the minor dents may go un-repaired. Although, insurance is still going to be paying to have major accidents repaired. We're going to feel it though...

Hi Mike

The best advice that i can give to you for school is take your time because when your in a real shop you dont wanna do the same job twice due to a mistake.Welcome to the room

Welcome to AF! Spread the word about this forum to your friends, fellow students and those in the industry. This is a fairly new forum on AF and we'd like to see some more members get involved.
A word about the economy and the auto collision industry. Like LearnAutoBody said, no matter what the economy, vehicles still have to get fixed. I think along with the economy other factors affect the industry at the same time, Mainly insurance companies and their growing demands upon shops to use inferior parts and cut cost as much as possible. Another factor is the rise of "super-sized" collision centers and their effect on the smaller "mom and pop" established repair shops. These smaller shops will have to fight these larger shops to continue to get enough business to stay afloat. So it's not just the economy having an effect on things.
