has anyone had to replace their window regulator? i ordered the whole unit for my '03, Front LS door... just wondering if there's any hints or suggestions from anyone? (the plastic pieces inside snapped this winter when the window was frozen in place = $65 down the drain!)

I've done a couple on my wife's 2002. I don't recall any real tricks, they seemed pretty straight forward. Getting the door panel off was probably the trickiest part, screws along the bottom, screws in the door pull, and a screw near the inside door release handle. I don't recall if the trim piece near the inside door release handle snaps off (I think it does). Be careful will removing the door panel though so you don't gouge the chrome plating on the inside door release handle with the metal brace of the door panel.

Im in the same situation. Waiting on a regulator to be delivered now.

Maybe there is a market to just make some nylon pulleys and not have to buy the complete setup.

Humm....... Since I am a 30+ year machinist maybe I need to look closer at this.
The nylon wouldn't be effected by the temperature like these cast pieces.

It's too bad I didn't save the regulator assemblies from my wife's LS. I never had pulley problems with hers, the nylon that the ends of the cable connect to to raise the window up and down is what broke on her's.

Same thing happened on my 01 LS a couple of months ago. The weather is not cold enough here to cause the plastic to become so brittle. Something broke in my rear passenger window regulator, a while back also. That regulator moves up and down just fine, but the window has somehow separated from the regulator and can be slid down with the hand, as long as the regulator is down. I had to replace the motor on my driver side regulator and something got fouled up on my sunroof mechanism also. The only thing that has not given me grief yet is the driver side rear window.

Any one know a reliable and reasonably priced source for these parts?

Thanks!

so, it really was quite easy to get it apart and out... since i ended up doing it almost 3 dozen times! the unit sent to me (from Ebay retailer) was for a diff version LS and had a different motor plug. so i starting switching motors only to find the arm was formed differently as well. so i also switched the arms. installed but maybe there was too much play in the cable because it started jumping off track again. finally ended up shortening each cable end at the pulley and now it seems to work good, still waiting for that day when i go to roll it up and have an issue again though :banghead:

Bad window regulators plegged all Car Types!

When open/Close doors, make sure windows are all the way up or down.

Root Cause:

When windows are 1/2 down, the cable will bounce when slamming door!

The cable will bind & when using electric window something going to break.
