stereo question

ok here is the problem, i was changing the stereo in my parents car, its a 2000 grand am gt, it had an aftermarket stereo and they wanted a factory radio put back in ( the aftermarket was too complicated for them) ok the guy who had installed the aftermarket radio had cut all the wires instead of getting the proper connector. now i put a factory radio back in but first i had to go to the wreckers and get a plug in for the radio, now i connected it back up and it works but i have two wires that i dont know where they go, they are either orange or yellow and one of them say " illumination" and the other one says "dimmer switch.. or something like that. if i dont connect these to one of the power wires from the radio i get no park or dash lights. i connected both with the accesories wire but now the dash and park lights are always on when you start the car and the service vehicle soon light is on... any help with where these wires go would help.thank you in advance!!!:banghead:

I hate lazy people.:banghead: There should be two wires from that wire harness that should match up to those wires that go to the radio, but I am not sure where they would come from. I am sure that one of the mods or members will have a wiring diagram to help you out.

You may want to check out www.the12volt.com for more info. They have wiring diagrams and a forum that should be able to help you out.

BTW Im not sure if the 2000 GA has the same security system as my 01. If they do I do not recommend doing any of your own stereo swaps because you can damage your head unit and your car (even if you are an experienced audio installer like myself) due to the anti theft system.
