Century 2001 Headlight voltage drop.

Driver side headlight not working, bulb good and fuse good. Socket reads 9.25volts.

Passenger side reads 11.94volts and working fine.

Any ideas how to chase this one gentlemen? Would approx 3V drop cause the headlight to NOT come ON at all?

Are you getting the voltage drop in low beam only or hi-beam or both?

Probably a bad electrical contact at the multifunction switch (MFS) causing this issue.

Probably a bad electrical contact at the multifunction switch (MFS) causing this issue.

i'm a newbie when it comes to electrical troubleshooting, but a guy came to check it out and here is what we did.

we exposed both wires just to access them before the socket to make sure that wasn't the problem. connected the bulb to the wires exposed and no light. then the guy put the positive wire to the positive of the bulb and we grounded using the frame and we GOT LIGHT!
guy says that means positive wire is good and its a problem with the ground wire somewhere, will continue on friday....

btw i forgot to add in my last post that the voltage drop actually wasn't there we did get 11.9 volts at the headlight in question. that was just a bad reading on my part so the title of this thread is probably a bit deceiving now....

instead of searching where the bad ground is, we just ran a jumper wire from the ground of the headlight that doesn't work to the one that does. Fixed for now.
