I had a friend of mine pull the codes off of my 00' Eddie Bauer (5.0 AWD) Explorer and it gave us the following codes: P1000 and P1400, after some checking online I found out the description of the codes, but no real solutions. I would appreciate any help to better understand what these codes mean and possibly how to fix them.
2000 Eddie Bauer 5.0 AWD 145,000K Miles.
Thanks,

The P1000 indicates the drive cycle has not been completed. Were the codes recently cleared prior to the reading or the battery replaced? The P1400 points to the DPFE circuit which, if you search this forum for "DPFE", you notice is a very common issue.

What exactly is a drive cycle? I recently took the battery out to charge it for a couple of hours but the CEL was on prior to that. Would you be able to tell me where the DPFE is located?

FOllow your EGR tube, there will be 2 smaller lines that branch off and go to your DPFE sensor. A visual check of the hoses for holes and such. Also get a vac pump and connect to your EGR and pull a vac, does the engine almost dye, if not then you have a bad EGR or plugged up ports. this will all give you a DPFE code for lack of suffiecient egr flow, or excessive flow. The latter is usually a bad dpfe, saying that the egr is open when its not.
