I am looking at a 1993 Dodge Stealth, I do not know if it is a base model or e/s. It has 3.0, auto trans, cruise, 154K miles, So I am leaning more towards ES but I do not know. It feels like there ia miss or two, so i plan on replacing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, probably the brake pads and maybe the rotors, The belt that I looked at(thin one on driver side of engine) appeared to look good(no cracks), tires are still good, definately will be changing the Oil and filter, and more than likey thetrans fluid and filter, flush coolant system. It sounds like it will need front struts and rear shocks. I want to lower it, can I just buy the lowering kit or will I need to purchase the kit and the struts and shocks? Aside from everything I am planning on replacing is there anything else I should look at and possibly replace? Where is the TIMING BELT on the vehicle? This vehicle had the engine replace as the person did not take care of it so a used motor was installed, do not know the milege of it. Transmission seemed to shift fine, but did jumo into drive when changed from Reverse into drive. Could it possibly be because the trans was over filled? Thanks for taking time to read this if you did and any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

from your description, it's a SOHC.... a base model.

If it has a distributor cap and rotor it is a SOHC base model.
As for lowering it you will not get a good drop with just springs. THe car is too light for the spring rate on drop springs and it lowers VERY little if at all. The only way to really lower it is with coilovers.

Another thing....a few days ago I found a 3AR Racing Muffler and am wanting to put it on the stealth. When I looked at the car I glanced under it a saw 3 or for different mufflers or cats. What did these cars come with stock(how many cats, precats, mufflers, and premufflers, or resonators)? What can I remove or gut and what should I leave on it so either the check engine light does not come on or the engine will not be effected? And what was the size of the exhaust pipe, so that I can know if the 3ar Muffler will fit or not?

There is one cat, a resonator a premuffler and a muffler.

Would it be safe to remove the pre muffler and muffler to install my 3ar muffler or would it be better to just remove the muffler?
