It looks to me as if the straps were done, but just broke. For metal and most vehicles i prefer chains and binders. But I believe straps are legally okay for that load, they just snapped. But it doesn't look like the trailer had a headboard or truck had a headache rack(appropriately named), which is illegal. The guy is VERY lucky to be alive, hope he recovers fully and timely. Kudos to the FD and tow truck operator on the rescue.

Can I use the photos for FD sight I'm on? If so can you PM location of this incident, and FD scene? It'd be pretty swell of you.
