Climate Control / Blower Motor

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with the 3.8, non Supercharged. My issue is the blower motor doesnt seem to work on speed 1. It works on speeds 2 through 5. Although not a big deal, I am curious as to what could be the problem, possibly bad climate control switch? blower motor resistor? Any ideas is appreciated. Thankyou

I have a 2000 GP that had the same issue. I just researched the blower resistor issue and found instructions in one of the posts from BNaylor I believe.
Anyway, I just did mine. It cost about $30 for the resistor and took about 40 minutes to replace it. Its quite simple really, there is a panel just below the glove box. Remove that. Then there are 3 5.5 mm screws that hold the blower in. First you have to move the wire bundles out of the way. There is clamp that holds the main bundle by the blower. Take off the clamp and the bundles will move. You may have to remove the clamp.
Take out the 3 screws for the blower, remove the plug from the blower. There is a rubber hose on the blower that will pull loose. Remove the blower. You'll now be able to see and remove the resistor, which will be up agains the firewall. Just take out the one screw, reach into the blower housing and push down on the resistor and yank it out. It will come out, you may have to put a little muscle to it.
Once its out, disconnect the plug to the resistor. You'll need to loosen the ohter two screws a little in order to re-install the new resistor. Installation is the reverse. Good luck. Like I said, it took me about 40 minutes.
