1996 Caprice Wiper Motor Problem

I have a 1996 Caprice Classic 9C1 with a wiper motor/control problem. Hope someone can help.

The driver side wiper is out of time with the passenger side. It goes way past the post and stops half way in the windshield section. You can push the arm back to it's rest position but when you restart, it goes stupid.

Passenger side is fine.

Thanks

That sounds like slippage at the tapered/splined stem or linkage damage. If the wiper arm is not slipping at the stem, you'll have to remove the cowl trim and inspect the system.

remove the driver side wiper arm ...remove the nut and using a puller push off the arm...from the support post...if the arm comes off without much force the arm will need replacing....the small splines on the arm support post need cleaning [wire brush] and inspection for wear...the arm is softer than the support post....I would go to a scrap yard for this part if the arm needs replacement.
