Front Differential Interchange

Hi, I've got a '99 Tahoe, old body style, the front differential is already worn out after only 250,000. S.O.B. I've got access to a '95 Yukon that was rolled over, does anyone know if the front differentials can be swapped? I looked at a few wrecking yards and they seem to separate at late '97 early '98. I'm wondering if the only difference is the electric front axle actuator, which I should be able to swap from the orig. diff. to the '95s, or if there is something else I'm missing. I know they either have a GU6 code for 3.42 and a GT4 code for 3.73, and I haven't yet had an opportunity to check them for compatability. Thanks for the help. j

Your salvage yard interchange book is best info on it.
Also match gear ratio.
Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was checking, just wondering if anyone knew what the difference was. I noticed if I check the '99, it'll give me choices from '99 back to '96, and the '95 interchanges with from '88 to '96. The only thing that struck me was that addition of the electronic axle actuator in '96. I'm hoping that's the only difference, so I can spare trying to buy a diff. instead of using the one I have.

I would say more than that.
Good Luck
