Hey everyone, I have a 94 mustang GT and also a 96 maxima.... I was about to spend a good 800 dollars or more buying a variable intake for the max but then I thought about what I could do to my mustang with that kind of money? I'm kind of new to the mustang world because the mustang used to be my mothers and she just kinda gave it to me.... SO what all could I do with 800 bucks to that 5.0 litre engine? I'm also still having some mixed thoughts about putting money into the mustang instead of my maxima because its automatic and well I just dont know too much about fords I guess... Also, what kinda times do stock 94 GT mustangs run? What could they run after that 800+ dollars?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Personally I'd put the money into the Mustang instead of the Maxima but that's just me. For $800 I'd get a nice exhaust system. You'll be amazed as how that 5.0 will sound once opened up.:D
As far as what it'll run, considering it's completely stock & a slushbox, I'd wager about low 15's. Maybe a little better.

Baumanator TCS unit, turn the AOD-E into a hard shifting perfromance machine, Set all shift points, lock up rpm's electronically through your computer gotta love it.
Won't add power put will definetly drop ET's
Or get a Diablo Chip will firm up AOD-E shift points and add a few ponies with more money left over. but less control.
Either way you have enought to get some mufflers for a nice sound too

A stock 94 GT has 215hp at 4800 rpms. I would say with an auto tranny you would run mid 15's to low 16's, depending on driver ability.

I second a good shift kit, that will be a great improvement to the AOD-E trans. It will firm up the shifts, and lower ET's by a few tenths.

You could then go one of two routes. Either new gears, or an exhaust system. Gears will give you the get up and go, make the auto trans launch a bit better, and not feel so sluggish when accelerating. Exhaust will add some HP, and make the car sound a lot better. But I think you would notice more of a gain with new gears, something like 3.73's would be good for a daily driver that sometimes sees the strip.

Gears are deifnetly a better ET dropper than mufflers. Good call

gears, exhaust (full). Should be round 800 for all.

I would go with some 4:10 gears to get it moving and maybe throw on a new intake manifold to round off the $800. That should Knock of 4 tenths in the 1/4 for the gears and maybe 1-2 tenths for a good GT-40 or Cobra intake.
You ought to be able to get some high 14s with a good driver.

I'd say 3.73's. I have 4.10's and their definetly not for the mases

If it's a street car that sometimes sees the track I would stay with 3.73's. Now if it were a drag car then I would slap 4.10's or even 4.30's in there.

I can't see adding just an intake to an otherwise stock motor being very beneficial. Especially when the stock heads are just as, if not worse, then the stock intake. I think once gears are taken care of, a complete exhaust system would be the best, most beneficial upgrade. Anything that can be done to help the crappy exhaust ports on them heads flow better is worth while!

I am sorry if this is a obvious, or oftenly answered question, but does the H-Pipe flow and sound better than the X-Pipe? Or is the other way around?
Thanks

The X-pipe sounds better in my opinion. But, It would take all his dough for a Basani cat back and X pipe. The cat back cost $600 and another $200 for the x-pipe.

Only good thing about Bassani now is that you can get it in SS. But you pay out the ass for it.

4.10 gears for an AOE GT. 3.73 are too light for the automatic.
